New book about Runa Boger
Runa Boger is a prominent textile artist who has been active since the 1970s and a key driver in the Norwegian textile artists organization (NTK). Boger was, among other things, the chairperson of NTK when SOFT gallery was established in 2006. In her artistic practice, Boger works with material-based art in the form of textile collages and three-dimensional textile objects. She draws on a textile tradition where formal investigations of color and geometric shapes are the main elements. Her approach is simple and direct, and the textile, the texture and structure of the fabric, guide her. Boger is interested in reuse and recycling, and often combines wool with vegetable fibers. The organic and naturally unstable fascinates and inspires her. The materials are hand-dyed and further processed using techniques such as block printing, brushwork, monotype, pastel crayons, hand sewing/embroidery, and lamination.
The book presents the breadth of Boger’s artistic practice, from early works to her most recent productions. The texts are available in both Norwegian and English.
